Mohegan Sun: Roofing & Waterproofing
Beating the odds
After almost 22 years, the Mohegan Sun install is still one of Silktown Roofing, Inc.’s most memorable projects. Working with 65 crew members per day, Silktown Roofing, Inc. installed 140,000 SF of water proofing including 30,000 SF of interior work at the swimming pool, waterfall, river and reflecting pool. Additionally, 550,000 SF of GAF PVC roofing and IMETCO panels were installed.
When Roofing Contractor Magazine talked to Chuck Arnold, Project Manager, about the project he reflected on some of the details that made this job a logistical masterpiece. Chuck recalled how the trade coordination was paramount on the project, specifically the hotel towers which stood 455 feet at the highest elevation. The tower roofs were done with interlocking pavers atop an inverted roof system with a 3:12 pitch.
Being a part of the successful grand opening at Mohegan Sun was an honor of Silktown’s. Working alongside the Mohegan Tribe has been a wonderful relationship ever since – backed by hard work and mutual respect.
